February 24th was the Designer Showhouse Empty House Party. Tickets could be purchased for $25.00 to come and see the house before the designers begin their transformations. The VIA provided delicious refreshments and had wonderful gifts and accessories to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. This event has been a successful fund raiser for the organization.
Welcomed guests could walk through the different rooms and check out the designers’ design boards. Every board tells a story…color scheme, fabric choices, wall color, art selections, etc.My story board was a big hit. Everyone commented on the doggy fabric that I have chosen. I am reassured that I made a good choice. For me, it was a chance to study my space more carefully. What I came to realize is that my room is very dark. I need to rethink my window treatment design. Perhaps something minimal to let as much light in as possible. Also, I will probably need more lighting, which presents a problem since there is no ceiling fixtures. I also will choose a very light beige for the wall color to brighten things up. Work can start at the house as of Monday. Here we go!!!
